How does Reference-Based Pricing work?

TPAs use referenced-based pricing to ensure fair pricing for procedures.

Reference-Based Pricing starts with the understanding that pricing for the same procedure done by different providers isn’t regulated. Thus, there can be a drastic difference in price for the same procedure in the same market. Varipro uses established “reasonable and customary” pricing guides (ie. Reference-based pricing) to ensure that their employer and member clients are not over-charged.
